Prague Christmas Markets

The Czech capital offers a festive atmosphere with market filled squares offering local treats and handicraft

In 2017 the Christmas Markets at Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square were ranked as the top 10 in the world by CNN News - so what more of an excuse do you need to visit?  With the fragrance of mulled wine and gingerbread wafting through the air as you discover brightly decorated wooden huts stocked with Christmas decorations, wood carved toys, scented candles, embroidered lace, glassware and even blacksmith's ware.  You'll be transported into a truly magical atmosphere to get you in the festive mood as you fill your bags with Christmas goodies.

Tuck into some traditional Czech food with large hams roasted on spits (Pražská Šunka); tasty barbequed sausages (klobása) and a variety of sweets and cakes, just waiting to tantalise your taste buds. You'll also find a variety of hot drinks to keep you warm including Honey Wine (Medovina) or Mulled Wine (svařák). Meanwhile, if you're at the Old Town at 4:30pm the magnificent Christmas tree covered in an array of decorations will become illuminated as this is the time when the dazzling lights are switched on every day. Be sure to visit both markets, it's easy to do as Wenceslas Square is just a 5 minute walk away.
