Historic Lisbon

Discover Lisbon, a sun-drenched city draped in authenticity where ancient history and old customs combine  with cultural entertainment and cuisine on the side

As you stroll along the colourful cobbled streets of Lisbon, you'll discover one of the old cities in Europe offering an array of  must-see landmarks. Look out for the old wooden trams and iron funiculars, ready to take you around a maze of narrow streets and steep hills for some glorious views of the city and beyond. Enjoy the local cuisine as you sample one of the world's finest custard tarts - Pastel de Nata whilst deciding which monuments, museums and landmarks you'll visit first.

Sample itinerary

Day Day by Day
1 Check in for your morning flight from London Heathrow to Lisbon airport. On arrival, your coach transfer will take you to your hotel, your home for the next 3 nights. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure and go for a stroll along the bustling boulevards.
2 After breakfast, enjoy a guided walking tour of Lisbon. Discover the sites of this beautiful city, with cobblestone streets and traditional trams running through the inner-city hills. Look out for the glorious Sé de Lisboa cathedral - the oldest church in the city, built in 1147. Head to Chiado, a bohemian district of Lisbon with a traditional shopping area, offering an eclectic mix of both new and old commercial establishments.
3 After breakfast, it's time to take a trip on the Gloria Funicular, sometimes known as the Ascensor da Glória. Operating since 1885, the funicular will take you up a very steep hill in the graffiti flanked tram cars, don't forget to look out for the Lisbon Graffiti Art Murals on your way to the top before disembarking and heading to the viewing area for some fantastic views. Enjoy a ginjinha (a local liquer) at one of outdoor kiosk bars and eateries before you explore. If you look out to sea you'll also see Belém Tower, built to defend Lisbon in 1514 before being transformed into a light house.
4 After breakfast, check-out of your hotel. Enjoy a final day of sight-seeing and souvenir shopping before your return journey home.
