Travel rules for groups returning to UK from abroad

All COVID-19 travel restrictions removed for school trips returning to the UK from abroad

All UK COVID travel restrictions were removed on 18 March 2022, making it much easier for groups returning home from a school trip abroad. This means that, regardless of vaccination status, the following applies:

  • children and adults no longer need to complete a Passenger Locator form
  • unvaccinated travellers no longer need to take a pre-departure COVID test before embarking on their return journey
  • unvaccinated travellers are not required to take a COVID test on their return to the UK

Groups planning an overseas trip will still need to be aware of other countries’ entry rules.

What about groups travelling back to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland?

Note that these rules are for passengers returning to England. Follow the links below for the rules on returning to Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
